Blackburn Rovers blocked media from asking about the future of captain Lewis Travis at Friday's press conference.
Local media were told they wouldn't be permitted to quiz Valerien Ismael about Travis or any other player contract negotiations. The order came from the Blackburn Rovers board rather than the head coach himself.
Instead, Ismael indicated that questions would be allowed after the match against Birmingham City on Saturday. Rovers would not confirm whether Travis would be involved or be captain if so and wanted to keep the focus on Saturday's match despite the elephant in the room.

It is the first time that Rovers have blocked specific questions in the time The Lancashire Telegraph's Rovers reporter, Elliott Jackson, has been covering the club. The only other similar instance was when Jon Dahl Tomasson was banned from speaking to the media at all following the end of the January transfer window in 2024.
That was due to the failed registration of Duncan McGuire, which had not become public knowledge at that stage. Ismael was permitted to speak and was happy to take questions on all other topics.
The LT reported an in-depth account of the fallout behind the scenes on Wednesday. Travis is known to be unhappy at how the situation has been portrayed and the relationship between the captain and the club, and visa versa, has been badly damaged.
