A motorist was stopped by police after they saw him driving “extremely” slowly from Pendle Hill down towards Sabden.

Blackburn Magistrates' Court heard Anthony Taylor later gave a breathalyser reading more than three times the legal limit.

Taylor, 37, of Stockbridge Road, Padiham, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 120 hours unpaid work.

He was banned from driving for 26 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and £114 victim surcharge.

The court heard Taylor gave a reading of 119 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, more than three times higher than the legal limit of 35mcg.

Scott Parker, prosecuting, said when Taylor was stopped, both his nearside tyres were flat.

The court was told the incident came shortly after the defendant’s partner told him she was seeing another man.
