Tyrhys Dolan is no closer to resolving his future as the clock ticks towards pre-season, The Lancashire Telegraph understands.

The Blackburn Rovers forward will officially become a free agent in fewer than two weeks, with his contract expiring on June 30.

It has been quiet in terms of concrete news on Dolan, which was to be expected. The forward was always going to take time to assess his options with a vast number of clubs registering an interest.

The 23-year-old has been away on holiday in The US for the last month but has now returned to the UK. Videos on social media have shown him training with Rovers captain Lewis Travis alongside a personal coach, as many players do to keep themselves in good condition ahead of pre-season.

The LT understands that Dolan has yet to receive any formal offers for his services, including from Blackburn Rovers. Whilst Rovers will make a last-ditch offer to retain his services, Dolan and his camp have not sat down with the Ewood Park officials yet to thrash out terms.

That in part is down to Dolan's holiday and Rovers respecting his decision to unwind post-season before making a decision on his future. Valerien Ismael's has made it clear he wants to keep the forward.

The head coach was realistic that Dolan would receive more lucrative financial offers this summer but hoped the 'love' and style of play on offer would tempt him back.

With many clubs still in the infancy of their transfer activity, Dolan is happy to wait and consider his options. However, it's likely that the next two to three weeks will see talks with interested clubs ramp up and a conclusion reached as to where he will play his football next season.

Whilst no club has presented a formal contract offer to Dolan, there is a mountain of clubs that are interested. Many of those are from The Championship whilst there are also European clubs that are watching the situation.

That's in the form of Rangers and Celtic but Dolan is also thought to have admirers in Portugal and Spain. At 23, with 200 Championship appearances under his belt, he's an incredibly attractive option as a free agent.

Rovers will pay close attention to negotiations if they can't persuade Dolan to stay. If the 23-year-old moves abroad, Blackburn will get very little compensation for the attacker.

Domestic clubs will have to agree a fee with Rovers, which will be below market value, or it will be decided by a tribunal. With so much upheaval in the Championship managerial market, very few clubs have made inroads into their summer transfer business.

The next month should give a far better indication of where Dolan will play his football next season and beyond. Clubs will return to pre-season in the next fortnight and more deals will be done.
