A Blackburn mum was so proud that she cried after her son received a letter from the King celebrating a story he produced at school.
Caiden Banaghan, seven, wrote “A Puppy’s Adventure” while working with his one-to-one support at Avondale Primary School in Darwen.
The story follows a puppy and its mother on a trip to London, and their quest to be reunited after the mother goes missing.
Featuring in the story, King Charles helps to reunite the pair and invites them to live at Buckingham Palace.
Caiden’s mum, Demi Mcelvenny said: “I cried, I was so proud.
"My son has gone through quite a lot of hard things with school, and he doesn’t hit milestones as much as other kids his age do. I could not believe it.
“For me, as a mum, it is important to put out there that things like this can happen even if you have autism, because I think it is an amazing thing.”
After reading the story, Caiden received a letter from King Charles explaining how he had read and enjoyed the story.
Additionally, teachers at Avondale were also quick to share their support, and Caiden featured in the school newsletter celebrating his success.

Demi added: “My son is in year 3 and goes into year 4 in September.
“Since he has been in Avondale, we were thinking of putting him into a special school, but we got funding from EHCP to stay in mainstream [education].
“He finds it hard to do what the other kids do. They were writing stories in English, and my son took a lot longer, and he came up with his own imaginative story.
“It was sent to Buckingham Palace, and the King had read my son's story, and he got a certificate from Buckingham Palace to the school saying the King really enjoyed reading the letter.”
Since receiving the letter, Demi has had it framed, and it has pride of place in their home.
