Two scout leaders said they were delighted to be representing the town at a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
Peter Sculpher and Stuart Parker attended the event as representatives of the St George’s Mill Hill Scout Group, which received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service in November.
Hosted in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, the event was graced by approximately 7,000 guests, including their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales, William and Kate, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie.
Peter and Stuart had the opportunity to meet individuals who work tirelessly for charities and community organisations across the UK, including Baroness Floella Benjamin, an advocate for children’s welfare and social justice.
Stuart said: “It was a real honour to represent our group and to be recognised in such a special way.
"This recognition is really for all the volunteers and young people who make our group what it is.”
The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to volunteer groups in the UK, equivalent to an MBE, and recognises 'exceptional work done by volunteer-led organisations to benefit their communities'.
St George’s Mill Hill Scout Group has been helping young people develop skills for life for over 40 years.
