Two brothers have denied a conspiracy to commit fraud allegedly involving a false paternity DNA test.

Mohammed Zameer Rashid, 40, and Mohammed Jameel Rashid, 45, appeared at Burnley Crown Court on Tuesday (May 20) each charged with a single count of fraud, to which they pleaded not guilty.

It is alleged by the prosecution that Mohammed Jameel Rashid presented himself as his brother to provide a DNA paternity test sample in a bid to avoid making child maintenance payments.

The brothers, both of Burns Street, Nelson, were released on unconditional bail ahead of a pre-trial review on January 19.

A trial set to last four days was scheduled for March 17.
