A rock band from Blackburn which has entertained fans on some of the country's biggest stages is set to fold.
The Illicits have supported the likes of Liam Gallagher, The Happy Mondays and Primal Scream in a near decade-long career, becoming renowned for their high-energy live shows.
And they were signed to legendary label boss Alan McGee's Creation 23, producing singles 'Left Behind' and 'In What World'.
McGee snapped up the East Lancs outfit after watching them perform at the former Electric Church in Blackburn's Northgate.
But the four-piece has announced they are now set to sign off with a farewell show at Sunbird Records in Darwen on August 9.
In a statement, the band said: "After almost a decade of playing together the time has come for us to call time on The Illicits.
"Our own personal lives have changed and evolved over the years and we as a collective feel this is the right time to close this chapter in our lives.
"We take with us the amazing friendships, memories and pride that we have formed as four kids from Blackburn who went from playing in our bedrooms to some of the biggest stages.
"We would like to thank every single person that has been behind us at any point and in any capacity."
For George Richards (vocals/rhythm guitar), Brad Hayes (lead guitar), Joe Mitchell (bass/backing Vocals) and Matt Cottam (drums) it's been quite a ride since they launched their first single, Smoke Me Away, with a 2018 gig at the Cellar Bar on King Street.
The band supported ex-Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher on tour in 2019 and were later picked out to enliven audiences at adidas Spezial gigs headlined by Primal Scream and The Happy Mondays in Blackburn and Manchester.
