Blackburn's Aeman launches series to inspire next generation

Aeman Ali Afzal, founder of ‘This Is TAE’, said he was 'on a mission to make the film industry more accessible'.

Aeman has no formal film school background, and said he built a career through 'self-teaching, experimenting, and passion', which then led to creating films for brands and organisations globally.

Aeman said he is self-taught and wants to pass on his skills (Image: Nq) Recently, Aeman launched five bite-sized episodes on YouTube aimed at beginners, covering the basics: how to begin telling visual stories, what tools you actually need and how to start creating immediately, even with zero experience.

The filmmaker has already worked with a number of organisations (Image: Nq) In the coming weeks, Aeman said he will be diving deep into industry secrets, including cinematic lighting on a budget, camera movement and visual storytelling, how to emotionally engage an audience and what’s worth the money and what isn’t.

He said: “There’s no gatekeeping here.

 “If you’re hungry to learn, I’m here to show you how.”

Aeman said it was ‘a call to all aspiring filmmakers’, especially those who feel like they don’t belong in the ‘industry’ or can't break into it. 

He added: “Upcoming content will explore how tools like AI-powered editing, virtual cinematography, script generators, and machine-assisted storytelling can help indie filmmakers work smarter, faster, and more creatively.

“The future of film isn’t just for big studios.

“With the rise of AI and accessible tech, the next wave of great filmmakers could come from bedrooms, not backlots.”
