A forecourt based on one of Blackburn’s busiest roads has been acquired by Zuber Issa’s EG On The Move.
The petrol station is located in Granville Road and was formerly run by Morrisons.
Workers were on site over the past week installing new signage to the front of the forecourt, which is located just a few hundred yards from the new Issa Foundation mosque.
The petrol station will include a Greggs, Cakebox, Spar and Ambala.
EG On The Move now employs more than 4,500 staff nationally following acquisitions and the launch of a number of new sites across the UK.
The site was formerly an Esso station with Morrisons store (Image: LT) In June last year, the company announced it had agreed to sell its remaining UK forecourt business and some food service locations for £228 million to Zuber Issa.
The new UK petrol forecourt and convenience retail business, including food service, was branded ‘EG on the Move’.
Zuber stepped down from his executive leadership capacity at EG Group, becoming a non-executive director, as did his brother Mohsin earlier this year.
Together, the brothers built EG Group into a business headquartered in their hometown.
The latest addition to the firm's empire is close to the new Issa Foundation mosque, which can be seen by drivers as they head into Blackburn and is located just off Billinge End Road.
Prayers have been held in the community building next to the mosque since Ramadan, with access from Preston New Road.
The main mosque itself is still not finished, with work on the interior underway. It is unclear when this will open to the public.
