Residents of a picturesque East Lancashire village are to be asked their opinion on two potential plans to improve a dangerous junction in it.

The junction of Burholme Lane, Talbot Street and Green Lane, by the war memorial in Chipping, suffers from road safety issues as a result of parking on the highway.

Now residents are being invited to have their say at a public consultation being held in Chipping Village Hall on Wednesday, April 16, between 3pm and 8pm.

Lancashire County Council officers have drawn up two options for consideration by residents at the request of Bowland with Leagram and Chipping Parish Councils.

Although the junction and the highway immediately to the west are in the parish of Bowland with Leagram, the boundary with Chipping is the Chipping Brook and most people and visitors to Chipping wouldn't know there are two parishes involved.

The county councillor for Longridge with Bowland Division and Lancashire County Council Highways boss Rupert Swarbick has worked with both parishes to get the consultation underway and looks forward to the outcome being presented to officers for their consideration.

The problems are caused by vehicles parked on Talbot Street between the Chipping Brook Bridge and the war memorial.

This means vehicles leaving the village are being forced onto the wrong side of the road.

This has caused one accident, many near misses and property damage.

Residents have been invited to drop in to share their thoughts on the parking issue and the possible solutions.
