One of Blackburn's biggest charity iftars took place in aid of civilians affected by the fighting in Gaza last weekend.

The event, on Sunday, March 16, was hosted by Twenty6, and the Vocal Arts Iftar Ramadan Special welcomed families for an evening of biriyani, entertainment, and fundraising.

All donations from the event will go to support orphans and widows in Gaza, with the funds used to provide essential aid, including clean water, female hygiene packs, and shelter.

The event featured a Ramadan game show, a Qur’an competition, nasheeds, and comedy, creating an atmosphere of celebration and togetherness.

Performers included Safe Adam, Muslim Belal and Omar Esa, with Sheikh Daood Butt hosting.

The event was designed with children in mind, ensuring they were engaged throughout the night.

Chocolates were handed out after each activity, reinforcing the young attendees' sense of belonging and identity.

Ohi Ahmed, director of events organiser Twenty6, explained the vision behind the event.

He said: “Vocal Arts Iftar started to provide an event for Muslim families in the UK.

"We found there weren’t events catered to children and families to have iftar in a masjid-style setting.

"We want children to feel as though they are part of the community.”

Performer Safe Adam said: “These events are so important during Ramadan to get together as a community.

"We’re all from different backgrounds but we’re united by faith. It helps you shape your identity as a young Muslim in Britain.”
