A former neighbourhood police officer has been sacked after he was accused of simulating a sexual act on a colleague and sexually assaulting him.

PC Daniel Stoddard faced a misconduct hearing at Ormskirk Police Station on Monday, March 3, and Tuesday 4, after it was alleged he sexually assaulted a fellow police officer on March 13, 2023.

It was also alleged he simulated sexual acts on the colleague between 2017 and 2018.

Both claims were denied by the former neighbourhood officer for Rawtenstall and Crawshawbooth.

The misconduct hearing was chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Karen Edwards, two independent panel members, Mark Smith and Chris Lindley, and a legal advisor, Warren Spencer.

Publishing the results, the force said: “It was alleged by the appropriate authority that being a police officer with Lancashire Constabulary, on March 13, 2023, Police Constable 3772 Stoddard sexually assaulted a colleague whilst on duty.

“It was also alleged that in 2017 or 2018 Police Constable 3772 Stoddard simulated a sex act on a colleague, and this conduct was unsolicited and unwanted.

“It was alleged the above conduct was a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in the area(s) of Authority, Respect and Courtesy and Discreditable Conduct.

“The panel found the conduct breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in the area(s) of Authority, Respect and Courtesy, and Discreditable Conduct and amounted to gross misconduct.

“PC 3772 Stoddard was dismissed without notice, and his details have been added to the College of Policing Barred list.”

The police barred list relates to staff members who have been dismissed from their role due to misconduct or serious performance issues – preventing them from working in policing again.
