The Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) was called to help a casualty out of their home following a fall at the weekend.

The team said the casualty suffered a number of serious injuries as a result of the fall at their home in Hapton.

RPMRT were called out by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) just before 11am yesterday ( Sunday, February 23).

NWAS requested use of the rescue team's full-body vacuum mattress to get the casualty from the upstairs of their home before being transferred to the major trauma centre at Royal Preston Hospital.

The casualty is undergoing further care and assessments.
