Griffins Head in Huncoat reopens under new management

Michelle Boult and her husband Darren Boult are now at the helm of the Griffins Head, on Burnley Road, which announced its sudden closure last January. They officially opened to the public of February 21.

Michelle, 50, said running a pub has always been a dream of hers.

She said: “It has been a dream of mine and my husband that we would one day have our own pub. We actually met working behind a bar around 20 years ago.

“Our children have all grown up now so we thought if we don’t do this now we never would.

“I have worked in hospitality and catering for many years so this is right up my street.”

Since signing the lease in January, Michelle and the team have been busy making renovations, including painting walls and woodwork, and replacing outdated furniture.

She said: “We have already made quite a few changes to it, in terms of renovations. It has all been redecorated. We have put a lot of time and effort into making it look nice and cosy.”

“We spent a lot of time on the tables and chairs as they weren’t level and looked old-fashioned. They look quite current now and in theme with the pub.”

Michelle said punters are excited about the pub’s return.

She said: “We have had a lot of positive comments and people are excited to have the place back open.

“We are so excited to open – but also really nervous.”

As well as serving drinks, food will also be available at the pub.

Michelle said: “We will be serving food and have changed the menu. You will find pub grub on the menu, including burgers, loaded fries, pies, lamb shanks and beyond. It’s not an extensive menu but we want to make every dish as good as it can be.

“Darren and I are both really excited and looking forward to welcoming locals. We can’t wait to become part of the community.

"We’ve put our heart and soul into making this a place where everyone feels at home – whether you're here for a hearty meal, a pint with friends, or just to soak in the cozy pub atmosphere."
