A Burnley man has been arrested on suspicion of dropping drugs into a Lancashire prison.
Fylde Rural Task Force and HMP Kirkham have been working to disrupt criminality in and around the prison, following an increase in organised drug drops in the Category D prison's grounds.
On Tuesday, February 18, officers carried out a plain-clothed operation around the prison, identifying any suspicious activity or vehicles.
Teams stopped numerous vehicles and conducted 10 stop searches, obtaining pieces of intelligence which looked to assist them in tackling the issue moving forward.
During this evening, the Roads Policing Team identified a vehicle which was linked to an organised drug drop in HMP Kirkham earlier in the month.
The driver, a 54-year-old man from Burnley, was arrested concerning the supply of class A and B Drugs.
A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “We will continue to work with the prison, increase our presence in the area and use our stop search powers where necessary.”
