Police were called to reports of a body being found in Blackburn earlier today.

A large emergency services presence was seen in Beechwood Drive in the Cherry Tree area this morning (January 30).

Pictures shared on social media showed multiple police cars and a fire engine parked along the road and officers on the towpath by the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Despite the report being made with good intentions, Lancashire Police have now confirmed what was found in the water was actually a Halloween decoration.

Though not confirmed by police, multiple social media comments had suggested that the item was a rubber foot.
