Update: Disruption has now cleared

There are delays on a main road through East Lancashire this morning following a crash.

Police are on the scene at the incident on the A59 Gisburn Road between Chatburn and Gisburn.

Officers said the crash was caused by floodwater. No injuries have been reported but police warned drivers to take more care.

A spokesperson said: "We want to update you and let you know that police are on scene and dealing with a road traffic collision on A59 Gisburn Road, Sawley near the abattoir which has been caused by floodwater.

"We’d recommend driving carefully, leaving plenty of extra time to get to your destination and finding an alternative route if you can."

The AA traffic website says the road is partially blocked and that traffic is slow.

Earlier this morning police advised that Bolton Road in Darwen had been closed due to flooding too.

However, this re-opened shortly before 6.30am.
