Police have seized a Tesla car in Bury after finding it reportedly did not meet UK requirements.
While popular in America, the futuristic-looking vehicles are not legal on the roads in Britain.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s (GMP) Transport Unit stopped the driver of the black matte Cybertruck in Whitefield last night, Thursday.
They said that although the driver was a permanent UK resident, the vehicle was registered and insured abroad which is prohibited in Britain.
It was also said to have not had a certificate of conformity to ensure the “free movement of goods".
There are ongoing concerns around the safety of other road users or pedestrians if they were involved in a collision with a Cybertruck, which can accelerate from 0–60mph in less than three seconds and weigh more than 3,000kg.
The vehicle was subsequently seized and the driver has been reported.
A spokesperson for GMP said: “Officers from GMP Transport Unit stopped this Tesla Cybertruck in Whitefield last night (Thursday).

“The driver was a permanent UK resident but the vehicle was registered and insured abroad which is prohibited in the UK.
“The Tesla Cybertruck is not road legal in the UK and does not hold a certificate of conformity.
“While this may seem trivial to some, legitimate concerns exist around the safety of other road users or pedestrians if they were involved in a collision with a Cybertruck.
“The vehicle was subsequently seized under S165 of the Road Traffic Act and the driver reported.”
