The first Grumpy Baker in Lancashire will be opening within a bustling Blackburn town centre district.
The new store will be based opposite Saffron Street in King William Street in what is becoming a hub for restaurants, coffee shops and dessert parlours in the town centre.
It will be the third Grumpy Baker store to launch following openings in Manchester, and Rochdale.
The premises have undergone a £100,000 makeover and will seat up to 20 diners.
The new venture is set to bring up to 10 new full-time and part-time jobs to the town.
Franchisees Zakir and Zubair Fozdar said they were excited to be bringing the brand to his hometown.
Zakir said: “We are really looking forward to welcoming our first customers to the branch in the coming month.
“We started work on the premises in early October and are hoping to be fully operational ahead of Christmas. The team are hard at work re-fitting the interior.
“We are taking up the ground floor and as well as take out we will have seating inside for diners.
“It will be great for Blackburn and great for this area which has certainly seen a growth of new businesses in the past few years.
“We can foresee this part of town becoming busier and busier in the future.”
The brand is renowned for its cheesecakes and stocking their own special blend of coffee.
The signature cheesecakes are named after some of the most famous singers and sports stars of the 20th century and include, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ named after boxing great Joe Louis, ‘The James Brown’, and the 'Bully B' named for MMA fighter Belal Muhammad.
Zubair added: “We are looking to cater for a range of customers and as well as the evening trade we do realise there is demand for people passing by and into town.”
The King William Street and Northgate district already boasts Heavenly Desserts, Akbar’s, Saffron Street, Café Impresso, Kobeda Palace and Toros Steak House.
Most of these establishments have opened in premises which underwent major renovations or were previously closed for many years.
