An Oswaldtwistle school has responded after the departure of two senior staff members at the school.
Parents and guardians at Rhydding’s High School were notified recently that both the headteacher and the deputy headteacher had left with ‘immediate effect’.
Rhydding’s High School is part of the LET Education Trust formed in Spring 2022. The trust comprises two secondary schools and two primary schools.
In a statement, the LET Education Trust said Andrew Williams, the school’s headteacher, had written to parents thanking the ‘magnificent pupils’ as he announced he would be ‘retiring after 35 years in education’.
Deputy head, Piers Tolson, also wished the ‘community the best’ as he announced his departure from the school.
Chief executive of the LET Education Trust, Steve Campbell, said: “Schools are about people, and in Mr Williams and Mr Tolson we have been fortunate to have two leaders who have cared passionately for the young people that we are proud to serve.
“It is only right, however, that as one chapter draws to a close we ensure that the school is able to get ready for the next exciting stage of its journey.”
The trust has appointed David Lancaster and Dave Murphy to lead Rhyddings on an interim basis for at least the rest of this academic year.
Mr Campbell added: “Following our discussions with our former colleagues, we acted quickly to secure the services of Mr Lancaster as our headteacher.
“The schools he has led have seen real and tangible progress, and he will be able to use this experience to build on all the positive things that are already happening at Rhyddings.
“Alongside Mr Lancaster, Mr Murphy will serve as his deputy.
"They have shown from their previous work together that they are a strong partnership who care deeply about ensuring every young person is able to thrive.”
