Lifelong friends have said “it is a huge moment for us” after collecting the Best Wedding Band at The Wedding Industry Awards.

Band members Jamie Turner and Chris Scott met at St Augustine's RC High School in Billington in 2002.

They became firm friends and after keyboard player Jamie Turner overheard lead singer Chris Scott's karaoke singing at a party they formed the band in 2008 and teamed up with drummer Elliot Chapman.

They shared their passion for music and by 2013 the trio had expanded into a full band known as The Misfits.

Turning their attention to weddings, the band quickly gained a reputation for their energetic sets and ability to connect with audiences of all ages.

In 2022, they rebranded as The Party Fettlers and embraced their East Lancashire identity and created a clear vision for their performances.

Now joined by Will Rogers on guitar, Arthur Phillips on saxophone, and Aaron Schofield on bass, they have continued to grow and deliver performances that blend soul, rock and pop hits, with a particular focus on forgotten 90s classics.

Jamie said: “Winning this award is a huge moment for us. It’s recognition for everything we’ve worked towards over the years and a reminder of why we do what we do.

"We’re so grateful to the couples who trust us to be part of their big day.”

For lead singer Chris Scott, the award highlights what makes The Party Fettlers so special.

He said: “Our goal has always been to create a party atmosphere that everyone can enjoy.

"We’ve spent years building a set we’re proud of, but it’s not just about the music – it’s about being together as a band and making sure every audience has the best time.”

They considered “calling it a day” due to growing family commitments and other priorities, but the extended break due to the pandemic made them realise what they would be giving up.

Jamie said: “We thought we might call it a day. It felt like there were other priorities, and the lads were starting their families.

“But then Covid hit, and it made us realise how much playing music together and performing meant to us all. Now we’re in our 30s, and it’s our release.”

The Wedding Industry Awards pay special recognition to wedding suppliers across the North West who are going the extra mile and are voted for by brides and grooms who had outstanding experiences.
