A Burnley man due to be sentenced over drug offences has had his sentence adjourned.
Mohammed Box, 21, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday, October 1.
He was due to be sentenced for two offences of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, and one count each of possession with intent to supply heroin and possession of a weapon for the discharge of noxious liquid.
Box, of Colne Road, was initially willing to withdraw his basis of plea and be sentenced on the facts set out by the prosecution barrister Anna Bond.
However his barrister, Hannah Ahmed, advised him against this and after the case was stood down for around an hour, it was agreed a pre-sentence report would be drawn up ahead of a new sentencing date later this month.
Judge Richard Gioserano, addressing Box, said: “Before lunch, you really wanted to be sentenced, and I understand that. But sometimes being in a hurry is not the best thing.
“You’ve reflected upon your position and I think you’ve made the right decision.
“It might still be a sentence of detention but at least you know if you get a pre-sentence report you have given your counsel everything they can possibly work with.”
Box was remanded back into custody ahead of a new sentence date on October 25.
