A “boy racer” is awaiting a day in court as police crackdown on anti-social driving in Padiham.
Concerns have been raised about the standard of driving around the Padiham bypass in the evenings.
On Friday night (September 27), police were in the area and tickets were issued for anti-social driving and excessively loud exhausts.
One person allegedly did not stop for the police and abandoned his vehicle. The vehicle was later seized.
A police spokesperson said: “Concerns have been raised around the manner and standard of driving along the Padiham bypass in the evenings.
“As a result of this, Pendle’s Neighbourhood Policing Team has and will be paying particular attention to the area over the coming days and weeks in an effort to reduce the impact this has on those living nearby and other road users.
“Last night we were in the area in the evening. Tickets were issued in relation to anti-social driving and excessively loud exhausts and one boy-racer decided he didn’t want to stop before abandoning his vehicle, which was then seized; he can be expecting a court hearing in the near future.
“Our activity will continue and we’ll let you know of anything of interest in the next few days and weeks.”
