Two of Blackburn’s biggest mosques have announced details for the annual march to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The event attracts thousands of people from across the borough and will take place on Sunday, September 22.
The march begins at noon at the Raza Masjid on Randal Street and will then make its way along Victoria Street and back up Randal Street towards Shear Brow.
From there, crowds will head up Shear Brow, along London Road, down Earl Street and onto Whalley Range.
The procession will turn left on to Oak Street and finish at the Madina Mosque where food will be served to all those who took part.
The event is one of the most popular religious marches in Blackburn and an estimated 5,000 people take part.
Many attendees come with flags and follow religious leaders through the streets, stopping along the way to eat Asian delicacies supplied by shopkeepers and residents.
Whalley Range will be decorated with balloons and flags by volunteers who are also on hand to assist with traffic marshalling.
Roads are closed only as the march passes and not for the duration of the whole event which lasts around an hour.
