Blackburn Cathedral Crypt is to be taken over for a night of up-and-coming psych-punk bands at this year’s Confessional Festival, which takes place in October.
Organisers have said that they are bringing a much smaller stripped-back event with the goal of affordability, with tickets priced at £10.
The Dream Machine will be headlining, following shows supporting Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, The Coral and The Lathums.
They are visiting Blackburn as part of their current tour promoting their latest album Small Time Monsters which has been critically acclaimed throughout the industry.
Supporting are Fake Dennis, a Leeds-based industrial alt-tek group, who have earned praise from Jess Iszatt and BBC introducing.
Manchester-based band Hungry will also be performing and bringing a genre-blending performance which has left them in the hearts of many Mancs.
Additionally, local talent will be on display and Darwen-based Pretty Shivers are coming off the success of their performance at Darwen Live and will bring a show made up of Northern attitude and swagger.
The night will conclude with a DJ set from El Grego, also known as Demented Disco.
Confessional has hosted unique events in a number of staple Blackburn venues in the past, including churches, and embraces a sense of community spirit by blending music, art and culture.
Last year it took over the Grade-II listed Cotton Exchange to bring a night of hip hop and R&B where it added to its deserved reputation for quality.
Known for catching bands just before their big breakthrough, Confessional has hosted Rianne Downey, Brooke Combe, Red Rum Club and Calva Louise in an attempt to revive the live music scene in Blackburn.
Launched in 2016, Confessional has evolved into a vital cultural celebration and reflects Blackburn’s vibrant creative scene.
It claims it helps to overcome negative stereotypes, showcasing Blackburn as a creative hub which is inclusive and also acts as a boost for the local economy by drawing in visitors and supporting local businesses.
