A couple has donated a brand new £50,000 minibus to a children's hospice.
The new eye-catching minibus was donated to Derian House Children’s Hospice by Lytham couple David and Anita Woods.
Harry, nine, and Alfie, 10, were the first children to use the new minibus last week for a trip to St Annes beach.
The pair flew kites, built sandcastles, and savoured a tasty fish and chip meal.
Planned future trips in the minibus include outings for shopping, movies, and visits to the seaside.
Anita Woods, a mixed media artist, said: "David and I have been very lucky over the years in the attention that my paintings have received.
"We decided we wanted to use that success to help others."
The couple decided to donate a minibus as they do not have kids of their own.
Anita said: "The minibus was actually David’s idea.
"We’re both not getting any younger, and we recognise the importance of accessibility."
Both David and Anita have mobility restrictions of their own - Anita having recently undergone a knee replacement and David now needing a scooter.
Anita added: "Derian House is a wonderful charity and I hope that the new minibus will bring smiles and create lots of valuable memories for all the young people who use it."
Derian House, which cares for more than 400 children and their families throughout the North West, is primarily funded by donations.
Mick Croskery, head of income generation at Derian House, said: "David and Anita’s heartfelt donation means the world to our young people.
"They will be able to enjoy even more trips out – giving them the freedom to do the things they enjoy outside of the hospice."
