A man has been charged with allegedly shooting two wild birds and disposing of them in a wheelie bin.
Joe Morris, 28, was identified and interviewed by police after a report was received of a man allegedly putting two dead birds, a tawny owl and a wood pigeon, into a wheelie bin in Colne.
The birds were allegedly found to have been shot with an air weapon.
Morris, of White Grove, Colne, has been charged with killing a non-schedule 1 wild bird, causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal, and possessing an air weapon in a public place.
He is due to appear before Blackburn Magistrates' Court on Thursday, August 22.
