This photograph which dates to around 1910 shows a busy Salford in Blackburn.
It gives you a clear view of the impressive buildings at the corner of Railway Road.
At the time one was occupied by Thomas Cook and Son’s Tourist, Excursion and Shipping Office.
There was also a confectionery business.
You can see the tram tracks leading into the Boulevard. Blackburn railway station is a ghostly-looking building in the background.
It’s interesting to see how many people were milling around the area, many presumably waiting for a tram.
