By the summer of 1962 work was almost finished on Accrington's new town centre shopping area.
You are looking along Broadway with Union Street going off to the left. Marks and Spencer and Woolworth's would occupy the two prime positions and back then you could even park right outside.
In the background you can see the Odeon Cinema with a sign directing shoppers to the large free car park behind the shops.
