Church Street in Blackburn looks a hive of activity in this photo from 1905.
In the middle of the street are the entrances to the underground public toilets which were a featured of Church Street until 1962.
On the left you can see the sign for Boot’s the chemist. On the right there were two pubs - the Royal Commercial Hotel and the Golden Lion.
Other shops on church Street included an umbrella manufacturers and fishmonger’s and a boot dealer. This view was taken looking from Salford.
