The Sixties are often credited with seeing increased politicisation of the masses.
This photo from May 1962 shows members of Blackburn’s Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament mounting a public protest.
Sadly we don’t know where the protest was taking place but the ‘ban the bomb’ campaigners as they became known were certainly putting their point across.
CND had been founded five years earlier in response to the increase number of nuclear tests around the world.
