A Lancashire restaurant is launching a new tasting menu to celebrate suppliers and produce from across the county.

The menu at Aven, in Preston, designed by chef Sean Wrest shows off ingredients found locally, including seafood from Mayers at Blackburn Market.

The Celebration of Lancashire menu will be available from June 17 to July 19, with an eight-course offering priced at £69 per person.

Diners can expect servings like Mrs Kirkham’s award-winning Lancashire cheese paired with beer and onions.

Also on offer is Lancaster smoked eel, Ascroft beetroot and horseradish, all supplied by Mayers.

Other highlights include Farmyard Ales' spent grain bread, Tarleton tomatoes with whipped cod roe, local cod with Morecambe Bay shrimp, and chicken and courgette with Wyreside mushrooms.

The dessert course features local products such as Little Town dairy yoghurt and Lemken Nurseries' strawberries.

Chef Sean, who co-founded the restaurant with former MasterChef The Professionals finalist Oli Martin, said: "We recognise that a lot of people are dealing with the cost of living crisis and that having a special dining experience is something they might have to think twice about.

"With that in mind, we’ve taken £20 off the usual cost of our tasting menu so that diners can enjoy this new menu which really celebrates many of the fantastic producers that we have here in Preston and the surrounding area.

"We buy produce and ingredients from these suppliers on a regular basis, as well as foraging ourselves for items that we can add into our dishes.

"This menu hopefully reflects that and we believe it’s a real celebration of what Lancashire has to offer."

Lancashire-born Aven chef, Oli Martin, has worked in kitchens across the world and also spent time at Northcote.
