*UPDATE: Leyland Way has now reopened but the slip road remains closed*
A slip road on the M6 is closed after diesel spilled on a road in Leyland.
There has been a spillage on Leyland Way which has made the surface very slippery.
Motorists have been urged to avoid the area and slow down on approach. Council street cleaners have been called to the spillage.
Junction 28 of the M6 northbound is closed.
A Lancashire Road Police spokesperson said: "Spillage on Leyland Way towards junction 28 of the M6. The carriageway has made the surface very slippery.
“Please avoid the area if possible. Lancashire Council street cleansers are on their way. Slow down.”
A police spokesperson said: "We’re currently at the scene of a road closure on Leyland Way, including the junction 28 northbound entry slip road, in Leyland.
" The road is closed due to a diesel spillage and we anticipate this will be closed for some time. We’ll provide an update once cleared, thank you."
