A security guard makes his rounds along one of the open air corridors at the Shadsworth deck access flats in 1988.
At this point, the last residents had moved out of the flats which had opened just 20 years earlier.
The flats had been part of a much-vaunted policy of housing regeneration for Blackburn with traditional terraces which had required vast amounts of money spending on them being demolished to make way for high rise living.
The flats themselves would be demolished in 1989.
