A woman in her 60s has been pronounced dead after being involved in a collision in Blackburn Morrisons car park earlier today.

Lancashire Police were called to the town centre supermarket at 2.28pm following reports a black Honda Jazz car had collided with the woman.

Emergency services, including the North West Air Ambulance, attended and found a woman in her 60s with a number of serious injuries.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car park was closed for some time.

Lancashire Police has asked that witnesses do not circulate footage of the scene to show respect to the deceased and her family.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses and footage following a fatal collision in Blackburn.

"We were called to the first floor of Morrisons car park at 2.28pm today (May 24) following reports a black Honda Jazz car had collided with a pedestrian.

"Emergency services have attended and found a woman in her 60s with a number of serious injuries.

"She was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this incredibly distressing time.

"An area of the car park has been closed off.

"We are aware of people at the scene filming the aftermath of the collision on their mobile phones.

"We would ask that they do not circulate that footage as it would be incredibly upsetting for the woman’s loved ones."
