Dancers from Lancashire based charity DanceSyndrome are 'excited' to be opening a new inclusive dance session for children in Chorley for 7-11 year olds.

DanceSyndrome is a multi-award winning dance charity that was founded by Chorley resident Jen Blackwell, who happen to have Down's Syndrome.

The charity was formed because Jen found it difficult to find opportunities in community dance that were accessible to people with learning disabilities.

DanceSyndrome Managing Director Julie Nicholson said: “We hear from local parents all the time to say that there aren’t enough opportunities for children with a range of different needs to be able to get involved in dance sessions that are truly accessible for them.

“DanceSyndrome has a long term strategy to ensure that there are opportunities for people of every age and ability to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits that come from dancing, so we are very excited to be able to offer these taster sessions in Chorley and we hope that if they are successful we can expend our offer to include additional groups for infants and teens too!

"Places on the Juniors session are strictly limited so advance booking is essential to avoid disappointment.”

DanceSyndrome's ethos is that disability should never be a barrier to following your dreams.

All DanceSyndrome sessions are disability led, with people with learning disabilities taking visible Dance Leader roles to inspire people to see what can be achieved when we all become more inclusive.

Everybody Dance: Juniors is a new session from the DanceSyndrome team, aimed specifically at children aged 7-11 years old.

It is a fully inclusive, accessible dance session suitable for children of all abilities.

DanceSyndrome’s trained dancers, both with and without learning disabilities, work alongside each other to offer dance activities that can be adapted to suit the needs of all individual participants.

A series of four taster sessions will run on Mondays from June 10 to July 1 at Tatton Community Centre, Windermere Rd, Chorley.

They will run from 4pm to 5pm and cost just £2 per session.

Children of all abilities and experience levels are welcome.

You can book your place on the DanceSyndrome website.

Any individual who needs support or care during the session are absolutely welcomed and there is no additional cost for supporters/carers.

If you know of an adult who would be interested in Everybody Dance sessions, there are still a limited number of places available at sessions across Lancashire.

Visit the DanceSyndrome website for details of days, times, and locations.
