When the sun shines at the weekend, the tranquility of the Trough of Bowland is disturbed as everyone heads out to enjoy the spectacular natural views.
And it has always been so.
This photo was taken in April 1965 and shows cars on the road around the Trough and parked up in convenient lay-bys.
The well-prepared even brought their own chairs to sit in the sun and read the paper
