Three men have been arrested as police investigate reports of a fight, involving weapons, in Brierfield.
Officers were called to Carlton Street at 7.54pm to reports of an ongoing fight. There were also reports of some people carrying weapons.
Three local men, aged 24, 26 and 40, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.
Thankfully, no one was seriously injured.
According to police, this is being treated as an isolated incident between people known to each other.
A police spokesperson said: “You may be aware of some disorder in Brierfield yesterday evening and we just wanted to let you know what we had done about it.
“Our officers were called to Carlton Street at 7.54pm to reports of an ongoing fight, with a few individuals carrying weapons.
“We have attended and arrested three local men, aged 24, 26 and 40, on suspicion of violent disorder.
“Nobody was seriously injured and this is being treated as an isolated incident between parties known to each other.
“Our enquiries are very much ongoing to identify others potentially involved in criminal acts.
“We will have increased reassurance patrols in the area in the coming days as a precaution."
