A man is set to appear in court charged with attempted murder after a police officer was struck by a van in Sale.

The police officer was one of those in attendance at an incident on Beech Road at around 10.10pm on Sunday.

GMP Trafford said he was struck by a van after which he was taken into hospital for treatment on a broken shin.

Two men were arrested in connection with the incident and today (May 8) Kyle Woods, from Brooklands, is set to appear in court charged with attempted murder and dangerous driving.

The 32-year-old, of Wendover Road, is in custody ahead of his appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court.
