Driver arrested after hiding £5,000 in boxers on M6

A driver has been arrested for money laundering after £5,000 was found hidden in his boxers on the M61 motorway.

Posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, Greater Manchester Police said a white Mercedes C220 was picked up by Lancashire Road Police on the M61 southbound.

Pre-emptive tactics were used to prevent a pursuit and the vehicle was boxed near junction 2.

The driver was arrested for money laundering after £5,000 was found hidden in his boxers.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "The white Mercedes C220 was picked up by Lancashire Road Police southbound on the M61.

"Pre-emptive tactics used to prevent a pursuit.

"The vehicle was boxed near junction 2.

"Driver arrested for money laundering after £5,000 was found hidden in his boxers."

A spokesperson for Lancashire Road Police said: "Great work today between our Road Crime Team and Greater Manchester Police"
