Two men have been charged as police investigate a stabbing in Preston.

Officers were called to a report of men fighting in the Ashford Road area, just after 6am on May 1.

A man, 37, was taken to hospital with stab wounds. He is in hospital being treated for his injuries which are described as ‘serious but not life-threatening’.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and have been charged.

Daniel Herd, 28, of Lansdown Hill, Preston is charged with Section 18 wounding, possession of a blade and possession of an offensive weapon.

Richard Dimelow, 31, of Blackpool Road, Preston, is charged with Section 18 wounding and possession of a blade.

They will appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court today (Friday May 3).

A police spokesperson said: “Two people have been charged after a man was attacked in Preston.

“We were called at shortly after 6am yesterday (Wednesday, May 1) to a report of men fighting in the Ashford Road area.

“Officers attended and a man, 37, was taken to hospital with stab wounds. He remains in hospital being treated for his injuries which are serious but thankfully not life threatening.

“Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and after consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, they have been charged.

“Daniel Herd, 28, of Lansdown Hill, Preston is charged with Section 18 wounding, possession of a blade and possession of an offensive weapon.

“Richard Dimelow, 31, of Blackpool Road, Preston, is charged with Section 18 wounding and possession of a blade.

“They will appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Friday May 3).”
