Bolton Market Place under construction,1987
This photo from 1987 shows Bolton’s £60 million Market Place development nearing completion.
St George’s Church is in the top left of the picture with Bradshawgate bottom right. At this point, the rooftop car park was being completed.
The main tenants lined up for the new shopping centre at the time were Debenhams who were to occupy three floors, Marks and Spencer and Littlewoods.
