Please introduce yourself and the background of acquiring the pub:
My name is Stuart Nichols and I am the manager of the Pendle Inn and have been for around eight years. The pub is owned by Daniel Thwaites and has been since January 2021.
What’s the food like?
The food is a mixture of great homemade pub classics and some more seasonal favourites.
What off the menu would you recommend?
Pendle Pie or Chicken Sinatra, two classics we have had on our menu for over 10 years!
What’s your most popular drink?
Our most popular drink currently is probably Thwaites IPA, brewed in our own brewery along with three other beers that make up the Thwaites core range.
How are you dealing with the industry’s challenges?
Due to our remote location staffing is always a challenge as is the increase in wages and utility bills.
However we negotiate this by ensuring our offering is up to date and current, allowing us to sell our products at a fair rate.
What’s the best thing about running a pub?
Meeting new people and staying engaged with our locals and regulars.
Opening the door each day, you never know who will walk through the door, and that is the most exciting part of our job, alongside the smiles on their faces after their visit.
How did it feel to win the Lancashire Tourism award?
It felt like an incredible achievement and one the team really deserved for delivering consistently over a long period.
How does the location benefit your custom?
The location is crucial as it’s a beautiful part of the world and fantastic for walkers, so that really benefits us with our style of pub and our offering.
