Police have seized an e-bike which was being driven dangerously in Blackpool.

Officers said four men on e-bikes were spotted riding along Waterloo Road during the early hours of this morning (Monday). One of the riders tried to evade officers by driving down an alleyway but ended up in a dead end.

A police spokesperson said: “After a swift U-turn, the rider tried to make off at speed only to head straight towards awaiting tasking officers. He decided to ditch the bike and make off on foot rather than stop and speak to us however, the bike has been seized and will join the others in the crusher.

“It is illegal to ride these electric motorbikes on the road and public areas. We will continue to target those individuals who insist on putting other road users and innocent members of the public at risk.

“If you have any information regarding the riders of these bikes then please contact the force control room on 101 or alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
