Members of a solicitors firm are taking part in a run to help support a Blackburn charity.

Forbes Solicitors, based in Wellington Street, are also sponsoring the publication of BAGS for Strife’s new book, the Little Book of Help.

BAGS for Strife, based in Exchange Street, was set up to help support people who have lost loved ones to suicide.

Their support bags are specially tailored to what they think people may need in the immediate and long term.

The charity has sent out more than 1,700 support bags to people and has established a direct distribution link with police forces in Lancashire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Nottinghamshire, with ambitions to partner with every UK police force.

Members of the Forbes team are taking part in a 5k charity run in Clitheroe to help raise money for BAGS for Strife, and are sponsoring the book.

The firm first partnered with the charity last year and its dedicated clinical negligence team helps advise people when clinical negligence may be linked to the suicide of a loved one.

Angela Allen, CEO of Bags for Strife, said: “Our Bags of Help feature useful items such as a water bottle, sleep spray, lip balm and tissues, to remind people to take care of themselves when suffering with grief.

“The Little Book of Help contains real-life stories so that people who’ve lost loved ones to suicide can see that they’re not alone, and this edition also contains advice about how to tell a child or young person about the loss of a loved one to suicide.

“We aim to offer people step-by-step guidance and links to a host of useful support services. We really appreciate Forbes’ sponsorship and their 5k runners – they’ve helped make the new edition of the book possible, and hopefully we can get even more people from across Lancashire involved in Stride for Bags on Sunday 28th April.”

Leonie Millard, a partner in the clinical negligence team at Forbes Solicitors, said: “BAGS for Strife is a fantastic charity which supports people at their most vulnerable, offering a friendly hand following the loss of a loved one to suicide, while helping them process complex emotions.

“Having worked with the team for some time, we’re very pleased to support the launch of its second Little Book of Help and their 5k fun run later this month. Members of the Forbes team will be taking part on the day, and we’re really looking forward to it.”

The charity run take place from 10am to 1pm on Sunday, April 28 at Brungerley Park, Clitheroe.
