A van has been seized in Great Harwood and the driver has been reported due to MOT and insurance issues.

Last night (April 16) police were on patrol when a van in the area came to their attention.

Vehicle checks showed the vehicle’s MOT had expired in January.

The driver was also not insured to drive the vehicle.

The vehicle was seized and the driver was fined for having no MOT. The driver was reported for travelling without insurance.

A police spokesperson said: “Last night, officers from your local neighbourhood policing team were on patrol in Great Harwood when a vehicle driving in the area came to their attention.

“The vehicle has parked up on a nearby street and officers have approached to speak to the driver.

“Checks on the vehicle were conducted which showed the vehicle's MOT had expired in January 2024.

“The driver of the vehicle also did not have insurance to drive the vehicle.

As a result of this, the vehicle was seized. The driver was also given a fine for having no MOT and reported for driving without insurance.

“We will continue to patrol the area and act upon the information you provide to us.”

You can be fined up to £1,000 for driving a vehicle without a valid MOT. You can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.
