An investigation is underway after a train guard was assaulted at Chorley Station.
Last night (April 10), a train guard was punched in the chest, put in a headlock and hit in the face with a coat, after asking a man about a ticket.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The British Transport Police is obtaining CCTV and body camera footage as part of their investigation.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “A train guard was assaulted at Chorley Station last night after approaching a male regarding a ticket.
“Male punched guard to the chest, put him in a headlock and went on hit the guard in the face with a coat. We’re obtaining CCTV, body cameras and statements to fast track enquiries.”
This is not the first time a train guard has been assaulted at Chorley Station this month.
At the start of the month, a train guard was “punched to the ground”.
According to the British Transport Police, a train guard was being “threatened by a youth”.
An off-duty guard came to the assistance of his colleague and was then “punched to the floor” by another youth.
The guard then sustained a cut to his face.
