A lorry driver was stopped on a motorway in Lancashire due to being nearly three times the drink-drive limit.

Police stopped the HGV on the M6 near Preston at around 11.30pm last night (April 7).

No damage or injuries were sustained in trying to bring the vehicle to a stop.

A police spokesperson said: "Stopping a 44-tonne HGV can be difficult on the motorway.

"Trying to stop one on the M6 near Preston with a driver nearly three times the drink-drive limit is a challenge.

"Calm tactics got it stopped safely without damage/injury.

"Apologies if you were held in the rolling block."
