A man is in critical condition in hospital after being found unresponsive in his Blackpool apartment.

Officers were contacted by staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, at 11.30am on Wednesday (April 3). Staff said a patient was in critical condition.

The man, in his late 40s, had initially been found unresponsive in his Clifton Drive apartment, by a family member.

Police are “keeping an open mind” and are not treating his injuries as suspicious at this time.

The man was last seen on Dune Street, Blackpool, at around 9pm on Sunday (March 31).

A CCTV image has also been released by police. Officers believe he may be a key witness with information.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for a key witness to come forward after a man was found unresponsive in his apartment in Blackpool.

“Our officers were contacted by staff at Blackpool Victoria Hospital at 11.30am yesterday who stated that they had a patient in a critical condition.

"The man, who’s in his late 40s, had earlier been found unresponsive in his apartment in Clifton Drive by a family member.

“While we are keeping an open mind about how the man came about his injuries, we are not treating them as suspicious at this time.

“The man was last seen on Dune Street, Blackpool, at around 9pm on Sunday (31st March). He was later assisted by the man in the CCTV still. We want to speak to him as we believe he could be a key witness.

“Anyone who recognises him – or the man himself – is asked contact the police as soon as possible.

“Anyone with any information or footage which could assist our investigation – particularly covering Clifton Drive after 9pm on March 31 – is asked to email or call 101. Quote log 442 of April 3.”
