Temperatures are set to soar this weekend with Blackburn set to be as hot as parts of Italy – but we are still far from ‘beer garden weather’ as rain and thunderstorms have also been predicted.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds, which covers coastal parts of Lancashire, on Saturday (April 6).

The warning is in place from 8am until 10pm.

Temperatures are set to peak at 17°C. According to the Met Office, this is the same temperature forecast for Torino in Italy.

Unlike Italy, the wet weather is set to remain with us, as light rain and cloud has been forecast.

BBC Weather has also predicted thundery showers in Blackburn on Friday, at around 4pm. Rain and wind gusts of 45mph have been predicted in Blackburn.

What to expect with a wind weather warning

  • There is a small chance of longer, or even cancelled journeys, as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
  • There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close or impose restrictions
  • There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
